It’s an excellent display of the conceptualization of the basic shapes of the figure, proportion, gesture, balance, and rhythm. And just a pretty cool animation.
The video is well done, we watched it in our drawing for animators class. i think parts of it were rotoscoped, which is a technique where you bring in a live video as a separate layer into a digital program like flash and draw over the figure frame by frame, then delete the video to leave the animated part visible. The video also incorporates squash and stretch and motion blurs to the rotoscope to give it a more traditionally animated feel, which I like and also adds to the concept of graceful dancers.
